BIOGRAPHY
Mayuri Patwardhan is a doctoral student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell's Department of Biomedical and Nutritional Sciences. She earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from the Institute of Chemical Technology, India, and her Master of Food Science (M.S) from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. Her master’s thesis investigated non-pathogenic bacterial surrogates for thermal process validation. Also, she worked on understanding the role of naturally derived antiviral compounds such as curcumin and gingerol in reducing microbial load in food processing operations. Her current research focus is exploring the role of iron and iron-induced cell death (ferroptosis) in the pathophysiology of pulmonary fibrosis.
